Regular listeners of Blues Power with Bernard Doherty on Planet Rock will no doubt already be well acquainted with Samantha Fish’s beguiling roots sounds and next year’s headline tour will be a perfect showcase of her considerable talents.

The trek kicks off at Glasgow St Lukes on Friday 28th February and calls in at Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, London, Norwich and Bristol before culminating at Brighton Concorde on Sunday 8th March.

48-hour presale tickets to the tour go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Wednesday 3rd July.

The tour follows the Friday 20th September release of Samantha Fish’s new studio album ‘Kill or Be Kind’ via Rounder Records/Proper Music.

The 11-track album was recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis and produced by three-time Grammy winner Scott Billington and mixed by two-time Grammy winner Steve Reynolds.

Samantha says of her sound: "I'm never gonna be a traditional blues artist, because that's not who I am.

"But it's all the blues for me. When Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf came out, what they were doing didn't sound like anything that had been done in blues before. You've gotta keep that kind of fire and spirit. I'm never going to do Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I have to be who I am and find my best voice.”

Explaining how she has evolved as a performer, Samantha added: “I think I’ve grown as a performer and as a player. I’ve become more respectful of the melody. You can go up and down the fret board and up and down your vocal register, but that’s not going to be as powerful as conveying a simple melody that people can really connect to and sing themselves.”
